A devastating plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia has a neighborhood in shambles. A small medical aircraft carrying a child patient, her mother, physician and others crashed in the middle of Cottman Avenue off of Roosevelt Blvd on Friday evening. A busy street with numerous stores and businesses. Cars and pedestrians frequent that road as it is also a community of houses. A massive hole was left in the ground, cars and people were caught on fire and a young man is currently missing. Some homes in the area were left with debris from the crash on their front lawns and rooftops. A scary scene that you would typically see in a movie. Some residents were also displaced from their homes due to damage from the fire. Lets not forget there are people who are still currently in the hospital suffering from injuries that they may never fully recover from. Several businesses will remain closed in that area until further notice. A Press conference was held on Saturday morning by City Officials. City Mayor Cherelle Parker thanked rescue workers and stated donations are not needed.
Investigators are still uncertain on what caused the plane to crash. The black box which records the final moments before a plane crashes was recovered after a few days. The recording has yet to be released to the public. I can tell you that while I was on the scene there were a few people viewing the aftermath. It was difficult trying to get an interview from those at the scene because most of them did not speak english. That's pretty ironic in my opinion. Some believe America is under attack as though there were 2 plane crashes in one week. Others blame our President Trump for the crashes because he fired the (Heads of TSA) Transportation Security Administration. Well if we evaluate for a moment; the accusations of blaming President Trump make no sense. That's like saying your burger at Mcdonalds was under cooked because the CEO was fired. The CEO does not make your burgers, there are employees that are under the CEO who are still fully equipped and are responsible for cooking your burger. Common sense clearly has become a thing of the past, but President Trump is working to restore it. It's imperative that accurate information is released to avoid further chaos and confusion.
