Rapper Sexyy Red is making headlines for her distasteful actions once again. The artist decided to post an AI generated photo of her and the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a so-called joke. Although many people decided to post pictures of Dr. King in observance of his holiday, the disturbing post was not an honor. While the photo of her and Dr. King facing one another while holding hands is utterly disturbing, people on the internet had mixed reactions about the post. Some felt it was harmless while others felt it was disrespectful. If you are someone who is aware of Sexyy Red's behavior and image then you would surely understand how this might upset some. It certainly upset Dr. King's daughter Bernice King. Ms. King took to social media to address Sexyy Red saying "This is intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful to my family and my father who is not here to respond himself because he was assassinated for working for your civil and human rights and to end war and poverty." The rapper has acknowledged the post and deleted it, sending an apology.
Bernice King did clarify she simply felt the photo did not represent what her father fought for and made it clear she does not think Sexyy Red is ghetto or trash. Although that was kind of Ms. King to say many of us would rather call it what it is. Sexyy Red exudes pure trash. I mean the girl sells lip glosses named after sexually transmitted diseases.
Social Media is a playground for some; but when it comes to common sense some people don't have any nor do they know when to draw the line. Although this kind of behavior is expected of the artist I would expect someone close to her would better advise her on certain decision making.
