Life in L.A. has been devastating for residents across the city. While wildfires continue to burn many are looking to local politicians for help. (D) Mayor Karen Bass has faced backlash from critics insinuating she needs to do more to help the residents. Many feel Bass should have been better prepared to handle these type of disasters. As we all know wildfires are very common in Los Angeles. Some have also bashed Mayor Bass for previously cutting the city's fire department budget. With thousands of home burned residents were forced to evacuate. Several celebrities including Mel Gibson, Jeff Bridges and Paris Hilton were just a few whose homes were destroyed or lost. It has also been reported that California's Governor Gavin Newsom called for an investigation due to loss of water pressure to local fire hydrants and the lack of water supplies available. It is not clear on how the wildfires started but it is being investigated. It is advised that visitors and residents stay out of beach waters due to wildfire contamination. These wildfires can be challenging to gain control over because it spreads at a rapid speed. Several communities were destroyed and a number of lives were lost.
